"Just Because We're Magic Doesn't Mean We're Not Real."

Last night, actor and activist Jesse Williams received the Humanitarian Award at the 16th annual BET Awards. Instead of the usual speech of thanking God and everyone on his team, Williams used his power and his platform to give an eloquent and poignant speech on the status of Black lives in America that had the audience standing and applauding throughout its entirety. In his speech, Williams touched on the conditions of our freedom, victims of police brutality and criticisms against the Black Lives Matter movement. He even gave a special thanks to all Black women for being the martyrs of their communities. Watch the speech in full here.
