H(om)e by Black Girl In Om — An Intergenerational Healing Concept for the Diaspora

It’s no secret that we’ve had a long-standing love affair with Black Girl In Om. Led by the visionary Lauren Ash, the platform has been “creating space for Black women to breathe easy” for nearly seven years; supporting Black women through media, experiences and, more recently, private memberships with premium content. Lauren and then BGIO art director, Deun Ivory, lent their beautiful faces — and moving stories — to the cover of our second journal, The Love Issue, and the support and sisterhood that has blossomed since is nothing short of divine.

For these reasons and so many more, we are elated that the BGIO squad will be launching h(om)e by Black Girl In Om — 2,000 square feet of wellbeing in Minneapolis, MN with an apothecary, wellness classes and healing rooms. The space will offer daily streamed & IRL classes, creative studio & exhibit space, an on-site herbalist and will host intergenerational community conversations.

The space’s powerful core intentions are:

  • To create a physical intergenerational healing concept for the diaspora in Minneapolis, which has been the catalyzing place for world-changing shifts in collective consciousness at the start of this new, pivotal era in human history.

  • To reimagine and present a new vision: what healing spaces for Black folk across all generations can and must now look like as we lean into this new decade.

  • To honor the lives of our Black kinfolk and to transmute the grief, trauma, and pain of these communal losses through new healing possibilities.

  • To seed, nurture, and harvest sustainable Black wellbeing and wealth through community events and programming, herbal healing, retail and relationships.

Black Girl In Om is in the process of raising $150k to open h(om)e this year, and we couldn’t be more proud to share the news with the CRWNMAG Family.

To make it even easier to contribute, for the next two weeks, we’ll be donating 50% of all Love Issue sales and 15% of sales of our whole collection directly to h(om)e by Black Girl In Om. So grab some timeless gifts for your closest girlfriends, and support the manifestation of a space for Black healing in the process. It’s a win-win-win!
