CRWN Magazine is looking for Video (Shreditor) Interns and PR & Marketing Interns for Summer 2017. Applicants should be passionate about the empowerment and authentic representation of Black women through media and the written word. 

Interns will work directly with CRWN's Editor-In-Chief and Creative Director and will be exposed to the inner workings of a print publication born in the digital age. All roles are very hands-on and require a proactive, adaptable, entrepreneurial approach to problem solving. Applicants should embody CRWN's brand pillars: Sisterhood, Authenticity, Knowledge of Self and Self-Love. Discretion, humility and maturity are of utmost importance.

1. PR/Admin Internship

Candidates must be able to intern at least 15-20 hours per week. We prefer NYC-based candidates but are open to the right remote candidate.

Duties:

• Pitching brands, press outlets and media platforms
• Maintaining, adding to and updating PR leads list
• Identifying all outlets/platforms who should be sharing CRWN with their audiences
• Building relationships with journalists and editors in the space
• Pitching outlets unique stories that speak to their readers
• Understanding/documenting natural hair ecosystem and key players in the space
• Staying on top of due dates for assets requested by outlets
• Brainstorming unique story angles based on content, events, co-founder activity, etc.
• Requesting and logging products/samples that will be featured in CRWN• Posting daily on CRWN's blog
• Crafting & posting social media copy
• Building social media presence and brainstorming growth strategies
• Conducting interviews/live streams
• Attending and covering events, as needed
• Assisting EIC in assigning and following up on articles
• Preparing email newsletters (MailChimp)
• Misc. admin/other duties as assigned by co-founders

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Entrepreneurial spirit: hustlers only!
• Tastemaker — can recognize and replicate high quality. Has great taste in music, food, cultural outings, the written word, photography, art, etc.
• Prior PR internship experience
• Extreme attention to detail
• High level of organization (Google Docs, Google Calendars, etc.)
• Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Snapchat)
• Problem-solving & critical thinking
• Prior editorial/blog experience
• Flexibility and coach-ability

2. Video (Shreditor) Internship

Candidates must be able to intern at least 15-20 hours per week. We prefer NYC-based candidates but are open to the right remote candidate. 

Duties:

• Shrediting: producing, shooting & editing high-quality video content
• Documenting company culture — team members at events, at the office, at activations, etc. 
• Capturing street style throughout NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Harlem)
• Building social media presence and brainstorming growth strategies
• Planning photo shoots, scouting talent
• Attending and covering events, as needed
• Assisting Creative Director in creative projects
• Sourcing creative and gaining approvals
• Misc. admin/other duties as assigned by co-founders

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Entrepreneurial spirit: hustlers only!
• Shreditor: produce, shoot and edit
• Tastemaker — can recognize and replicate high quality. Has great taste in music, food, cultural outings, photography, art, etc.
• Strong writing skills
• High level of organization (Google Docs, Google Calendars, etc.)
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and video formats for each (Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube)
• Problem-solving & critical thinking
• Prior video experience
• Flexibility and coach-ability
• Strong cultural intelligence (Black/multicultural hair & beauty space)

3. Design & Illustration Internship

Candidates should be located in NYC and able to intern in person (at our office in Chelsea, Manhattan) at least 12-15 hours per week.

Duties:

• Assisting in layout design (zines, web, magazine)
• Assisting in illustration and design for event/marketing collateral
• Design specifically for social media content
• Crafting social media copy
• Assisting Creative Director in creative projects
• Sourcing creative and gaining approvals
• Audit the blog and social media platforms regularly to maintain consistency in aesthetic
• Misc. admin/other duties as assigned by co-founders

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Entrepreneurial spirit: hustlers only!
• Tastemaker — can recognize and replicate high quality. Has great taste in music, food, cultural outings, photography, art, etc.
• High level of organization (Google Docs, Google Calendars, etc.)
• MUST be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Problem-solving & critical thinking
• Prior creative experience
• Should have a portfolio of design/illustration work
• Flexibility and coach-ability
• Strong cultural intelligence (Black/multicultural hair & beauty space)
