RISING: A Photo Exhibition Recap

RISING: A Photo Exhibition Recap

Earlier this month in NYC, Mark C of URBNFRESH, our girls at MiMConnect and a gang of friends collabed with Peerspace to create RISING: A Photo Exhibition — a project created to amplify the voices of a diverse set of photographers with images that highlight humans of color.

As we previewed back in May, RISING showcased the work of ten photographers who used Peerspace's creative spaces to execute their unique creative visions. They each showcased their original images together at Peerspace Art Gallery in Manhattan. Some of the artists that exhibited were Mark Clennon (whose work is featured in The Love Issue 🙌🏾), Travis Matthews (who shot our first issue's cover story), Mark Aghatise, Jarrod Anderson, Laurent Chevalier, Imani Dennison and more.

This event delivered a library of visually-rich and compelling stories and content that deeply resonated with attendees. In addition to visual storytelling — which the team was gracious enough to share with us, below — the event also included a panel discussion, hosted by Bianca Jeanty and Netta Dobbins of Minorities in Media Connect (MiMConnect); featuring rising artists, creatives and entrepreneurs. And of course, Kolin Mendez was in the building capturing the vibes for us all. Check the photo coverage below!
