CRWN Reviews: Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture

As a naturalista with 4C coils, I am often skeptical about trying new products because I have low porosity and protein-sensitive hair — so most products formulated for thinner and looser curls often do not work for my hair. However, I was pleasantly surprised and super impressed with all of the Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture products.

I reviewed the following:

Dream Come True Line: Wonderful Pre Wash Protein Treatment + Wonderful Scalp Exfoliator + Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque

Coconut and Moringa Oils Line: Curl Refresher Mist

Brassica Seed & Shea Oil Line: Shine & Hold Spray & Silkening Blow Out Creme

Jamaican Black Castor Oil & Murumuru Oil Line:  Curl Enhancing Defining Butter Creme

Jamaican Black Castor Oil & Murumuru Oil Line:  Curl Enhancing Defining Butter Creme

The twist cream works well as a leave-in conditioner. After I shampooed and conditioned my hair, this product left my hair smelling like sweet flowers and feeling super soft. However, the defining creme only provided a moderate amount of definition for my twist outs and braid outs. I would recommend using the product as a leave in after washing your hair. If you have 4C hair and love a fluffy-less-defined twist out, this twist cream works wonders.

Dream Come True Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque

Although I have low porosity, protein sensitive hair; this masque did not leave my hair feeling dry or stringy. In fact, I definitely felt like the masque strengthened my hair strands after using it a couple times. Even if you have protein-sensitive hair, I think it’s good to use a protein treatment on your hair once or twice or year to prevent breakage and thinning overtime. Overall, this deep conditioning masque is truly wonderful and leaves the scalp feeling clean and moisturized.

Wonderful Scalp Exfoliator

I have never heard of a hair exfoliator before! Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture Brand is definitely changing the game with this product!

The texture and consistency of this product is reminiscent of a body butter. I applied a generous amount to my scalp and let it sit before washing my hair. I expected to feel as if the product was working like experiencing a tingly sensation but it felt like any other pre-poo.

I may have to use this more to really know if it works or not. If you do feel as if you experience build up, this may be a great product to experiment with.

Wonderful Pre Wash Protein Treatment

This products works well as pre poo! I usually pre poo to prevent tangles and breakage while washing my hair. I noticed two or three small coils fell down while I was washing my hair, which is not bad at all. If you are looking for a pre poo I would highly recommend this product.

Coconut and Moringa Oils Line: Curl Refresher Mist

This mist smells great and I use it to refresh my huge afro puff. I did notice my hair started to feel more rigid when I sprayed a lot. If you have protein sensitive hair, I would recommend only a few sprays to refresh your afro.

Shine & Hold Spray & Silkening Blow Out Creme

The Silkening blow out creme works very well and acts as a great heat protectant before I blow dry my hair. I do not blow dry my hair often, so I appreciated using his product to prevent heat damage. I used the Shine and Hold Spray after blow drying my hair, and it gave my hair a fresh scent as well as a beautiful sheen.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed using each product. Each line features very high quality hair products that can be used for various styles and textures.
